Time: 10:20am-12:10pm April 28, 2025

Venue: National Taiwan University, College of Public Health Room 118

Title: Health for Whom? LGBTQ+ Rights, Data, and the Global Politics of Inclusion

Abstract:

This lecture challenges the paradigm that health is a universal human right by examining how (non)inclusive demographic data shapes LGBTQ+ population health. By tracing how concerns about data disclosure intersect with political backlash, this lecture sheds light on what is at stake when LGBTQ+ communities remain invisible within and beyond health system data infrastructure.

Lecture [2]:

Time: 13:20pm -14:20pm May 14, 2025

Venue: Lecture Hall, 3rd floor, NTU School of Nursing Building 1 (護理系館I  3樓階梯教室)

Title: Scaling Up Policy Solutions to Advance LGBTQ+ Health Equity

Abstract:

This lecture uses a multi-level case study approach to demonstrate how evidence-based policy solutions can be implemented to advance health equity for LGBTQ+ populations. Attendees will examine how individual providers, health systems, and national accreditation efforts can increase capacity for LGBTQ+ patient satisfaction and uptake of high-value preventive care. The case study will address both the financial constraints, political resistance, and limited provider training, alongside practical solutions that have been adopted to overcome these challenges. By understanding the economic and population health consequences of inequitable care, healthcare leaders and clinicians can scale up policy interventions that improve LGBTQ+ health.
