- Types of Projects: "Research Projects" or "Talent Cultivation Projects"
- Eligibility Requirements:
- Participating Institution Requirement: Each proposal must include participation from at least two member institutions of the UAAT alliance and one member institution of the KOOU alliance.
- Restriction on Duplication of Subproject Team Members: If more than half of the team members in two or more subprojects—either within the same integrated project or across different integrated projects—are the same, only one of those proposals will be eligible for approval.
- Regulations for Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators:
(also applicable to scholars from KOOU alliance member institutions involved in collaborative proposals)
- The principal investigator and co-investigator(s) must be full-time faculty or research staff officially affiliated with their respective institutions during the project implementation period.
- Each applicant may submit no more than two proposals in total, whether as principal investigator or co-investigator.
- Following the review process, each applicant may be approved to serve as principal investigator for no more than one project and participate as principal investigator and/or co-investigator in no more than two projects in total.
- Interested faculty members and alliance participants are kindly requested to coordinate with one another and complete the intention form. - Application and Implementation Period:
- Application Period: From July 7, 2025 to 12:00 p.m. on August 8, 2025.
- Implementation Period: From December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026.
- Research areas, themes, and Project Requirements:
- The proposals should focus on core areas such as life sciences, biomedical research, marine ecology, sustainable development, and applications of artificial intelligence in biomedical or environmental studies. The integration of emerging technologies, such as machine learning, big data analytics, and systems biology, is strongly encouraged.
- Highly innovative and internationally collaborative topics are welcome, including but not limited to: precision medicine, cellular microenvironment, organ protection, species diversity, environmental toxicology, biological development, and interdisciplinary research in sustainable oceans and ecology.
- To promote international talent exchange and development, projects must include plans for reciprocal exchange, joint supervision, and training programs (e.g., student exchange, scholar visits).
- Funding Guidelines:
- Each subproject will in principle be granted up to NT$1.5 million. The actual funding amount will depend on the number and scale of the selected subprojects.
- Personnel expenses should not exceed 20% of the total budget for the integrated project. However, this limit may be increased with Ministry of Education approval if necessary to recruit international talent and aligned with the project’s objectives.
- Each integrated project may allocate part of its budget to support the development of the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program), including recruitment initiatives, scholarships, living stipends, and advisor honoraria.
- Application Method: Applicants must submit the proposals in the format specified in the attached application form by 12:00 p.m. on August 8, 2025.
